'Cherry Blossom Blue Lustreware' Pendant Necklace

This beautiful vintage china rounded rectangle pendant necklace was created from a fabulous 'Cherry Blossom Blue Lustreware' bread plate which is a great example of "moriage pottery" which is a decorative technique in Japanese ceramics, particularly on porcelain, where liquid clay is applied to create raised, three-dimensional patterns. This gorgeous pattern was produced starting in 1921 & was discontinued in 1930. With it being "lustreware", it is iridescent, which changes hues depending upon the angle ~ it varies from blue to purple looking! :)
The design for this pendant was chosen, carefully cut out with ceramic tile nippers, then smoothed out to size & shape with my handy dandy grinder, then (black) grout is added to the edges to seal & further protect the vintage porcelain pendant.
I have lovingly placed the porcelain piece into a rounded rectangle gunmetal plated zinc-based alloy setting that measures 1 1/8" long, 11/16" wide.
The necklace I am offering to wear this fabulous piece is a 16" iridescent Rondelle bead necklace with lobster claw clasp + 3" extender chain.
