These gorgeous vintage china pierced earrings were created from a beautiful Herend "Rothschild Bird" Dinner Plate, Motif 2, which features a pair of birds & butterflies with a blue fishnet border with gold accents. This porcelain pattern was first created in 1860 for the Rothschild family of Europe. The design was inspired by a tale of Baroness Rothschild losing her pearl necklace, which was later found by birds in her garden. Herend porcelain is handmade & hand-painted in Hungary, often featuring 24k gold accents. The Rothschild Bird pattern is available in various pieces, including dinnerware, tea sets & figurines, with 12 different bird motifs. For these fabulous earrings I was able to capture some of that stunning fishnet pattern with gold accents for you to enjoy! :)
The design for these earrings was chosen from the plate, cut out carefully with ceramic tile nippers, smoothed out to size & shape with my handy dandy grinder, then (white) grout is applied to the edges to seal & further protect the vintage china china pieces.
I have lovingly placed the porcelain pieces into lovely rectangle hammered antiqued silver over brass settings that measure 1.25" long (with loop) & just over 1/2" wide. The earrings are hung with 925 Sterling Silver earring wire/hoop. Total hanging length is close to 2".
*Each JBD piece comes with a 'Story Card' that tells a little about the Vintage China Pattern that was used in the piece purchased! :)
