Japanese "Sometsuke" Plum Blossom Pendant Necklace

This beautiful & totally fabulous antiqued silver pendant has been crafted out of a dessert plate in a traditional Japanese style of blue & white porcelain with a plum blossom design. The visual elements, particularly the radiating lines & the blue underglaze, are typical of Japanese "sometsuke" porcelain. The design is often associated with the "plum blossom" or "cherry blossom" patterns popular in Asian ceramics & features a deep cobalt blue underglaze on a white porcelain base with a large stylized blossom with radiating white lines that create depth, while painted branches & smaller blossoms extend across the surface, which sure does make for some beautiful jewelry!
The design for this ab~fab pendant was chosen from the plate, carefully cut out with ceramic tile nippers, smoothed out to size & shape with my handy dandy grinder, then (white) grout was added to the edges to seal & further protect the vintage china piece.
I have lovingly placed the porcelain piece into an oval shaped antiqued silver plated brass bezel that measures just under just over 1 1/2" long x just under 1 1/4" wide.
The necklace I am offering to wear this beauty is an 18" stainless steel mesh chain with lobster closure.
*Aside from the necklace I am providing, conversely, you also could hang it from most any necklace you have in your jewelry box.
